SCHOOL VISIT INFORMATION

Talks and workshops can be tailored to classroom needs. I use a PowerPoint presentation which has many fun pictures from the setting of my novel, Circleville's Pumpkin Show. Also included in the program are writing tips, the importance of revision, and how publishing works. One thing I like to do is show how my manuscript is all marked up by my editor. Kids often complain about “first drafts” but even grown-up professional writers have room for improvement! I also stress that publication isn’t out of the reach of kids. There are markets for youngsters to showcase their work—this is a very exciting concept to kids who have an interest in writing. At the conclusion I hand out authentic Atlantic Giant seeds to all students I talk to! Kids can keep them for a souvenir or try to grow their own thousand pound pumpkin. A full day fee is $850.00 plus travel expenses and includes four 50 minute sessions. Please contact me for further details.
